Alstom transformer business sees growth

Alstom T&D India - a leading player in the Power Transmission business, is expecting the demand of the 765 kV transformers to grow in the country led by the 12th Five Year Plan which focuses on addition of 88,000MW of power generation capacity.

Alstom T&D India – a leading player in the power transmission business,  is expecting demand of the 765 kV transformers to grow in the country, led by the 12th Five Year Plan which focuses on addition of 88,000MW of power generation capacity.

Two new transformers were added to the power transformer manufacturing facility. One of the transformers – the 100th 765kV transformer/ 500 MVA will step up power to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited’s substation in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, while the second transformer, the India’s largest 765 kV class generator single phase transformer for Jaypee Group’s Bara Thermal Power Project is upgrading  the substation in Uttar Pradesh.

Alstom T&D India has the largest market share for 765kV generator transformers among Indian manufacturers. “The 765 kV transformers will become backbone of the power grid in the country. We are a significant contributor in building this robust transmission backbone in the country at a time when Planning Commission has set a target of adding 88,000MW capacity,” stated Alstom T&D India’s managing director Rathin Basu for The Times of India.
