Over 900 homes lost power on Sunday evening in the area of 25 and I Road in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA,  after a car hit a power line and fled the scene.

Authorities arrived on scene to find flames in the area and firefighters soon realised that the fire was caused by a car striking a power pole, knocking it over blowing out the transformer. Firefighters put out of the flames quickly.

“The main thing right now is it looks like it’s going to rain so it all should be put out. People on scene did a great job calling 911 early. That’s the main thing, call us and we can get our jobs done,” said Derek Trombetta, firefighter with the Grand Junction Fire Department.

No injuries were reported and power supply was restored to the area just before 7 p.m.

There are no leads on who was the driver involved in the crash. The driver involved could face a careless driving citation and one for fleeing the scene of a crash or failure to report the incident.
