Provincial officials displayed the scope of the current work and stressed that the planned stages are met both financially and execution wise.

CORPOELEC WORKAssistant Secretary of Planning and Public Services of Argentina, Alejandro Nicola, toured the electrical interconnection work in Villa La Angostura with EPEN staff yesterday and showed progress and fulfillment of the work.

The new 33/13, 2 kV transformer substation is currently under construction in Villa La Angostura. The concrete cable ducts, command rooms and cells, and the perimeter fence are being constructed at the moment.

The underground wiring between the transformer station and Paso Coihue substation 40 km further, will be ready in March. The base for the 15 MW transformer, which came to the site yesterday, is now available. The site is currently fenced off for protection.

Also the power line is running between the station and the border of Rio Negro province, running parallel to Route 40.

The electric grid will allow Villa La Angostura substation enough capacity to supply twice the current demand and save several million dollars in liquid fuels consumed by the thermal power plant. In addition, noise pollution and pollution generated by that plant, like transit diesel trucks supplying the fuel, will be prevented.

“The financial progress is more important than the physical progress, which is now beginning to take shape quickly,” said Nicola.
