The Minister of Energy and Public Utilities of Argentina, William Coco, announced the launch of an upgrade work worth 40 million pesos that will guarantee power supply to Plottier, quadrupling its current power.

The official said that the work involves the installation of a 10 MW substation and a 60 MW transformer which will be installed in 18 months.

With an investment of 40 million pesos, the equipment will quadruple the current power, improving the quality and reliability of the system throughout the catchment area.

The bidding and execution period is estimated to last 18 months as the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity needs to be obtained. In order to avoid problems of power shortage, a temporary transformer will be installed in Plottier this week.

The electrical equipment will be installed and commissioned by EPEN in the coming days in order to meet the demand of the city during the next summer.

The expansion project of the transformer substation Colonia Valentina in Plottier took a significant step forward when the ENRE analysed the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity grant for the execution of the work.

The critical situation of power supply in Plottier coupled with a growing power demand for the coming years, forced EPEN to make a series of investments to improve this part of the network. With regards to this, in 2008, a 33 kV transformer was installed in the local transformer substation to optimise and expand power supply.
