Residents of Herrera neighbourhood in Asuncion, Paraguay denounced the indiscriminate pruning of a mature leafy tree within the premises of the San Cristobal church in Denis Roa street.
The secretariat of the parish explained that pruning was done by ANDE, at the request of the ecclesiastical authorities, because the branches spread dangerously close to the power lines and 450 KV transformer.
Dr Hugo Piccinini, director of the Environment, said the municipal auditors shall notify the responsible parties because they not only cut the branches that threatened the cables, but also the ones that were far from the cables.
