Transpatagonia Transformer Service Station was struck by a lightning on Saturday and left entire Viedma, Argentina and the surrounding areas with no power.

The inconvenience lasted for about an hour for Edersa users in the capital centre and fuelled anger in the surrounding area because the power cut affected dining venues.

A faulty transformer No. 1 was reactivated at 23:27 and the power was supplied to the Idevi City and rural area. The line 2 supply was recovered at 23:38.

The transformer fault occurred outside the responsibility scope of the energy distributor so the incident will be reported to the Ente Provincial Regulador de la Electricidad (EPRE) – provincial electricity regulatory as “force majeure”.
