Iberdrola opens its substation to the Vocational Institute students

Spain, Burgos: A group of students visited the Villímar substation in Burgos, which provides service to 82,000 customers.
A group of fifteen students from Vocational Training Institute of Santa María la Nueva and San José Craftsmen of Burgos visited the transformer substation owned by Iberdrola. This substation has two 75 MVA power transformers which convert 220 kV to 45 kV. With a total of eleven high voltage lines, the station supplies electricity to much of the Burgos province.
During the visit, the students were able to see the installation of a new 10 MVA transformer that converts high voltage to medium voltage of 13.2 kV, supplying power to various urban areas of the northeast Burgos City.
The head of substation maintenance of Burgos, Vicente Marijuán, accompanied the students during their visit. He explained the operation of the electrical system, the basic concepts in electricity, the effects of the electric current on the human body and practices for the prevention of occupational hazards in this type of facility.
With this visit Iberdrola aims to promote and publicise the activities of the company to potential professionals.
