United Kingdom, Dundee: This weekend, two massive 131-tonne transformers will be transported from Dundee to Highland Perthshire as part of the Beauly to Denny power line project.

The transformers were built in Portugal and shipped to the port in Dundee, reports The Courier. They will be transported in convoy travelling at 10 mph and accompanied by police. The journey will take 2 days.

Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission has also arranged delivery of two further 131-tonne power transformers, this time delivering the components between Dundee and a new substation at Tummel Bridge.

A spokesman said: “Police Scotland is advising members of the public of a number of abnormal loads containing electrical transformers that are to be moved from Dundee Harbour to Tummel Bridge, Perthshire. The loads will be extremely slow moving and Police Scotland will try and minimise disruption to other road users as much as possible.“
