L&T Construction wins order worth INR 1,470 crore ($ 251 million) from Qatar

India, Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced its construction division had won a new order worth INR 1,470 crore ($ 251 million) in the Power Transmission & Distribution Business.

India, Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced its construction division had won a new order worth INR 1,470 crore ($ 251 million) in the Power Transmission & Distribution Business.

It is an international engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order from Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) for the supply, construction and commissioning of 6 EHV substations in Qatar.

L&T will supply, erect, test and commission power transformers, gas insulated switchgear of 220/132/66kV, and 220/132/66kV EHV cables amongst other equipment. The work will be completed in phases lasting between 16 to 44 months, reports Net Indian.

“The two packages (Phase XI Stage 1 & Phase X) which we are currently executing for KAHRAMAA are progressing well and this order, which has been won in the face of stiff global competition, reflects the growing confidence of L&T’s capability.” said Mr. S. N. Subrahmanyan, Member of the Board and Senior Executive Vice President (Infrastructure and Construction).

“It also reflects L&T’s operational competence and customer goodwill garnered in GCC countries.” he added.
