France, Levallois-Perret: The Stafford business of Alstom is about to deliver the final power transformer in a £ 200 million ($ 336 million) contract with a Swedish utility company.

The company has already delivered 13 power transformers under the South West Link contract. The transformers weigh about 205 tonnes.

The purpose of the contract is to connect Barkeryd in central Sweden to Hurva in southern Sweden, using the latest Stafford transmission technology, reports The Sentinel.

As part of the wider project, Alstom will also supply HVDC converter stations, converter transformers, control and protection and switchyard equipment. The Svenska Kraftnät led project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2014.

Grégoire Poux-Guillaume, Alstom Grid president, said: “Svenska Kraftnät is one of the most advanced utilities in terms of HVDC integration around the world. It reinforces our position as a major manufacturer in the HVDC market and supports our commitment to providing turnkey solutions to our customers, based on the latest technologies.”
