Alstom T&D India to upgrade substations in eastern India

India, West Bengal: Alstom T&D India has won an order from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to supply power transformers for the expansion of 400/220 kV grid substations in eastern India.

India, West Bengal: Alstom T&D India has won an order from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to supply power transformers for the expansion of 400/220 kV grid substations in  eastern India.

The order is worth INR 2000 million and is part of the Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme of Power Grid, with the aim to improve the transmission infrastructure in the states of West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar in eastern India, reports Newswire Today.

Alstom will install new transformers in the existing 400/220 kV substations and supply seven units of 400/220 kV, 500 MVA transformers and three units of 220/132/33 kV, 160 MVA transformers. The company will also upgrade two 400/220 kV 315 MVA transformers at the Jamshedpur and NTPC’s Farakka substations.

The equipment will be supplied from Alstom T&D India’s manufacturing facilities across the country.
