USA, South Carolina: Two banks of power transformers at a Duke Energy substation in Duncan went out Wednesday causing a nearly 12-hour outage.

Duke spokesman Tom Shiel said the outages were caused by equipment failure at the substation, reports Go Upstate. The crews responded to the substation and restored power to one bank of transformers by 4:42 p.m.

The remaining bank of failed power transformers was not restored until around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. Shiel, however, said the crews began moving circuits to the functional bank of transformers to bring back power to other customers.

“We were moving customers over as much as we could without causing the other bank to fail again.” Shiel added.
