ABB wins THB 819 million ($ 26 million) deal from EGAT

Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has signed contracts with The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) for the supply of a high voltage power transformer and improvement of the transmission grid in the East.

Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has signed contracts with The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) for the supply of a high voltage power transformer and improvement of the transmission grid in the East.

The deals worth THB 819 million ($ 26 million) include the transformer to support the power transmission from two hydropower projects in Laos – Nam Ngum 3 and Nam Theun 1, reports Nation Multimedia.

Thailand has signed the memorandum of understanding to purchase 5,000 MW of electricity from Laos. Accordingly, EGAT Governor, Soonchai Kumnoonsate, said that due to more power, new transformers and power stations are required. Two more high voltage stations will be located in Udon Thani and Chaiyaphum.
