Japan, Tokyo: Marubeni supplied main transformers and outdoor switchgear system as part of Chana 2 combined cycle power plant delivery with Siemens to Electric Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).

A consortium of Siemens and Marubeni built the Chana 1 multi-shaft combined cycle plant in 2008, adding two further combined cycle units to the site, reports EBR.

Located in the Songkhla province in the south of Thailand, the 800MW natural-gas-fired plant features two units in a single-shaft configuration.

EGAT power plant development deputy Governor Khun Ratanachai Namwong said: “Chana 2 marks the second plant erected by Siemens and Marubeni that has gone online this year, enabling us to respond in good time to the high electricity demand in the south of our country.”
