Power department approves grant to enhance capacity in Bareilly

India, Bareilly: The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has granted INR 30 crore ($ 4.9 million) to upgrade several transformer substations following unscheduled power cuts on a regular basis.

India, Bareilly: The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has granted INR 30 crore ($ 4.9 million) to upgrade several transformer substations following unscheduled power cuts on a regular basis.

Capacities of over 30 transformers will be enhanced in various localities of city. Also, around 48 new transformers will be installed in places where overloading occurs, reports The Times of India.

P K Gupta, chief engineer, UPPCL said: “Out of INR 30 crore ($ 4.9 million), around INR 29 crore ($ 4.7 million) will be used in urban areas while INR 1 crore ($ 200,000) will be used to strengthen power supply in rural areas. Local faults due to overloading will be reduced drastically facilitating uninterrupted power supply.

The department is also planning to add 70,000 new consumers this year and above steps are taken on basis of calculation of expected load on substations in the coming days.”

In the initial phase, substations including Deen Dayal Puram, Kuharapeer, Rampur Garden, Subashnagar, CB Ganj and Jagatpur stations will be enhanced.
