USA, Oregon: Officials at the Forest Grove City Council are expected issuing a bond to pay for a $3.5 million replacement of three transformers at Light & Power substations.

Three ageing power transformers are due for a replacement and as the city prepares to replace them at the Light & Power substations, the Council will consider allowing the city to begin paying for the project before a bond is issued.

The transformers need to be replaced with larger ones due to growth in the electric system and to upgrade the two substations, reports Oregon Live. The electric rates for residents are expected to rise as a result of the project.

Officials have “not yet determined the size or date of any financing to pay for the projects.” according to the staff report.
