SEA approves construction of electric substation in Antofagasta

Chile, Antofagasta: Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) has approved E-CL’s  project ‘Electrical Substation Rica Aventura’.

The project involves the construction of a new transformer substation of a voltage level of 220 kV to contribute to secure supply and electricity distribution of SING, reports Terra.

The substation will be constructed and become adjacent to the Crucero substation in María Elena with required investment of $86 million for the project.

The project aims to contribute to the safety and reliability of the electricity transmission grid Norte Grande (SING), taking into account increase in both the supply of generation and demand system, which has grown steadily in the last decade.

The construction and installation of power transformers is expected to be completed in 39 months and the estimated service life is 50 years.
