Germany, Munich: Siemens has signed two contracts with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) for the construction of Static Var Compensators (SVCs) at Madinah East, Hail-2 and Al Jouf-2 380kV substations.

Germany, Munich: Siemens has signed two contracts with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) for the construction of static VAR compensators (SVCs) at Madinah East, Hail-2 and Al Jouf-2 380 kV substations.

The deal was signed by Ziyad Al-Shiha, CEO of SEC, Arja Talakar, CEO Siemens of Saudi Arabia and Peter-Karlheinz Bruder, head of energy transmission, Siemens Saudi Arabia, reports Arab News.

According to the contracts, Siemens will provide SEC with power transformers, SVC plus and protection systems, switchgears, and civil and electro-mechanical work. The project is expected to be complete within 24 months.

“The construction of static VAR compensator (SVC) will play a vital role in the stability of the network and smooth transmission of power in Madinah, Hail and Al-Jouf regions particularly in the time of high demand during summer, Haj and Ramadan.” said Arja Talakar, CEO of Siemens Saudi Arabia.
