Abuja Disco installs 140 new transformers

Nigeria, Abuja: The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has acquired and installed 140 new transformers to replace the dysfunctional ones in its distribution network.

Nigeria, Abuja: The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has acquired and installed 140 new transformers to replace the dysfunctional ones in its distribution network.

The transformers are worth about NGN 200 million ($1.2 million) and the AEDC has placed order for additional 200 distribution transformers with combined capacity of 80 MVA worth NGN 260 million ($1.6 million).

The Executive Director, Commercial Services of AEDC, Mr. Ernest Mupwaya said recently that the company has undertaken various network upgrade projects.

Some of the new upgrades will include a new transformer installation exercise at at Lokoja to add 15 MVA to the network and completion of a field base at Suleja in February, adding 15 MVA capacity to the network, reports This Day Live.
