Two transformers to be delivered by Scottish Hydro Electric for Beauly-Denny project
United Kingdom: Two 89-tonne electrical transformers are being transported from Bristol docks to a new substation at Braco in Perth and Kinross for the Beauly-Denny transmission project by SSE division Scottish Hydro Electric.

United Kingdom: Two 89-tonne electrical transformers are being transported from Bristol docks to a new substation at Braco in Perth and Kinross for the Beauly-Denny transmission project by SSE division Scottish Hydro Electric.
Project manager Keith Inglis said: “Both transformers were constructed in Porto, Portugal, and have been shipped to the docks at Bristol. We have employed an industry specialist to complete the last leg of the journey by road using a highly technical transport system.“
“Due to the transformers’ weight and size, there is requirement to use a 30-metre seven-axle trailer for each unit that can be manipulated to manoeuvre around obstacles. The transformers will be escorted throughout the journey to ensure the safety of members of public.” he added.
Scottish Power recently energised a new £50 million ($82 million) substation for the project in Denny, reports RE News.
