Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has introduced its latest-generation traction transformer, deployed on TER regional trains which are built by Alstom for SNCF.

Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has introduced its latest-generation traction transformer, deployed on TER regional trains which are built by Alstom for SNCF.
The compact and lightweight roof-mounted transformer is equipped with an integrated cooling system built with lightweight components. Its integrated double interleaved direct current (DC) line filter reactor allows bulk reduction in the 1500V DC catenary supply. The small tank also contains a large auxiliary chopper reactor.
Over the past decade, ABB has made design improvements in rail components, creating compact products like roof-installed transformers, reports Newswire Today.
