DEWA launches two new transformer stations

UAE, Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched two fully operational 132/11 kV substations in the second quarter of 2014.

The first substation located at Nad Al Hamar has three 50 MVA transformers providing electricity to the infrastructure projects of MERAS Group.

The second substation at Jebel Ali Port wharf has three transformers with a total capacity of 150 MVA meeting the increasing electricity requirements of Dubai Ports, reports Utilities Me.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said: “During the second quarter of this year, around 34 km of 132 kV cables were laid to connect these substations. DEWA has a robust and modern infrastructure that delivers our electricity and water services for different purposes and at the appropriate quantities.”
