PDD to replace 700 damaged transformers in flood-affected areas

India, Srinagar: The Power Development Department (PDD) has ordered procurement of 700 transformers to replace those damaged by water.
“500 transformers were extensively damaged and over 200 partially damaged during floods in the Valley.” official sources said.
The source said PDD has received INR 100 crore ($16.3 million) under the National Disaster Funds (NDF) sanctioned by Government of India (GoI), reports Rising Kashmir.
“70 new transformers have been received and these will be installed in the areas, which were badly affected during the floods and where transformers were damaged.” the source added.
The procurement of transformers was directly ordered from Power Grid Corporation of India (GoI) without releasing the tender notices.
