Costa Rica, Cartago: Fortech, a company which specialises in waste management, recycling and optimisation of various materials, has established transformer oil recovery plant.

The Cartago-located company decided to invest $600,000 last July to jump start the project in partnership with the Canadian company Reddragon, reports El Financiero.

This is the first such plant in Costa Rica and Central America that can offer a service of removal of contaminated transformer oil, take it through a purification process and generate a refined and purified oil that meets international standards and standards required so the oil can be reused.

Fortech’s new plant has capacity to process 700 litres per hour according to Guillermo Pereira, Manager of Fortech.

Pereira mentioned the company’s first contract but not revealing the name, which includes an order of more than 55,000 litres of this oil for over 300 power transformers.
