On the 25th September, one of the transformers caused electrical fire in the hydro vault forcing the building’s evacuation, reports Inside Toronto. The transformer was showing signs of age before the fire and was scheduled for replacement.
Utility spokesperson Tanya Bruckmueller said that since standards for the power equipment had changed before the fire, two other transformers in the vault would eventually need to be replaced, so Toronto Hydro decided to replace them all.
