France, Lavellois-Perret: Construction of the 900 MW DolWin gamma offshore converter platform has started at the Nordic Yards shipyard in Warnemünde, Northern Germany.

In February, Alstom had given the order for the rig to Nordic Yards as part of the $1.3 billion order for the DolWin3 grid-connection project in the German North Sea it had won from TenneT.

DolWin 3 will be the third connection in the DolWin cluster, with a distance from the wind farms to the coast of about 83 km. The grid connection  runs for additional 79 km on land to the converter station at Dörpen West.

The topside of the converter rig will contain Alstom’s power transformers, workshops, living quarters and machine rooms.
