GE to deliver power transformer monitoring solutions for Georgia Power

Georgia Power owns over 2,000 transformers across its electrical grid and it wanted to better monitor the condition of its transformer fleet to help avoid unexpected failures and gain greater insight into the overall health of its fleet, reports Utility Products.
GE will implement Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) solution, Hydran M2 and Kelman Transfix, to improve the reliability of the state’s electrical grid by giving it real-time data on the condition of each transformer on the grid. In addition, GE’s Perception Fleet Transformer Management software will also be used to monitor the entire transformer fleet.
GE and Georgia Power will start implementing the transformer fleet monitoring solution in late 2014, with a complete roll out planned for the end of 2016.
