Russia, Khakassia: Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power plant (HPP) has resumed operations at planned capacity after completion of repairs.

The HPP has been fully modernised, including replacement of 16 power transformers and 10 generator circuit-breakers, reports RT News.

In August 2009, an accident occurred at the hydropower unit 2 when torrents of water tore off the roof and flushed into the main generator hall, flooding all 10 hydropower units of the station and claiming lives of 75 people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin participated in the activation ceremony via videoconference from Vladivostok.
