Equatorial Guinea, Annobon: US-based power management company Eaton will support the construction of a 5 MW solar microgrid system in Annobon Province by providing electrical engineering services and power distribution equipment.

As part of the agreement, Eaton will supply switchgear assemblies, circuit protection devices and power transformers with embedded communications capabilities for easy integration with microgrid energy storage components, reports African Review.

“The Annobon Electrification Project will bring a much needed stable, reliable, and consistent power supply to the Annobon Island, and enable the development of multiple industries, bringing valuable jobs and significantly raising the standard of living,” said William Rawheiser, president of Wise Power Systems, company contracted to provide solar design and engineering.

This 5 MW project will be the largest self-sufficient solar microgrid project in Africa.
