Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur: Alstom has won a €40 million ($49 million) turnkey contract by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) to reconstruct the 275 kV Tudan substation in Sarawak, one of two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo, otherwise known as East Malaysia.

As part of the project, Alstom will supply the products and commissioning for the upgrade, including a new 275 kV switchyard and two new 240 MVA auto transformers. Alstom will also relocate existing systems and auxiliaries from present site to the new substation.

The project, to be completed in phases over 41 months, will strengthen the Sarawak Grid for reliable electricity supply to the Miri population, the second largest city in Sarawak, as well as industries in and around the Northern Region in Sarawak.
