ABB to provide Stadler Rail with roof-mounted traction transformers

Switzerland, Zurich: Swiss train manufacturer Stadler Rail has placed orders worth $40 million with ABB for train projects in Europe and the United States.

 


Switzerland, Zurich: Swiss train manufacturer Stadler Rail has placed orders worth $40 million with ABB for train projects in Europe and the United States.

As part of the order, ABB will supply Stadler Rail trains  with roof-mounted traction transformers, as well as newest traction converters with integrated on-board power supplies.

The order covers the equipment needed for new electrical mountain trains travelling to the Europe’s highest railway station Jungfraubahn, electric and diesel-electric Stadler trains destined for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) in California, Spain’s FGC trains, the train line operating between the cities of Alphen and Gouda in the Netherlands, and the city of Aarhus, Denmark, which will receive 24 light rail vehicles.
