Istanbul transformer explosion ends with casualties

Turkey, Istanbul: A power grid transformer burst into flames in the Bahçelievler district of Istanbul during maintenance work, taking two lives and leaving several workers injured.

 


Turkey, Istanbul: A power grid transformer burst into flames in the Bahçelievler district of Istanbul during maintenance work, taking two lives and leaving several workers injured.

The explosion which occurred during maintenance work caused fire and panic among workers, who evacuated the building out to the garden. Some of the workers caught fire and several got injured, two of whom suffered severe burns.

At least two people are reported dead, reports Today’s Zaman.

The transformer was part of the grid operated by the Trakya Electrical Network Business Group Management, located in Bahçelievler, a large residential suburb of Istanbul on the European side of the city.
