Low temperatures froze transformer and caused outages in Toronto

Canada, Toronto: After transformer equipment failed in -17 °C temperatures on Friday morning, power has been restored to most of the 8,000 customers who were cut off in Toronto downtown area.

 


Canada, Toronto: After transformer equipment failed in -17°C temperatures on Friday morning, power has been restored to most of the 8,000 customers who were cut off in Toronto downtown area.

The power failure which affected a wide downtown area was traced back to equipment failure at the Bridgman transformer station, reports Toronto Star.

Among the affected Toronto Hydro customers was the Royal Ontario Museum, which had to close its galleries for the day.
