Australia, Queensland: About 6,000 Ergon Energy customers suffered power outages yesterday as a result of the earthquake, which struck near the Queensland town of Eidsvold.

The 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit the Eidsvold region and was felt at more than a 304-kilometre radius, reports News Mail.

Protection equipment at four substations detected movement of the power transformers and cut supply as a safety precaution. The affected substations included Eidsvold, Wallaville, Givelda and Monto substation, stated Ergon Energy spokesperson.

Power has been restored after safety checks and tests were performed to confirm that there was no damage on the affected transformers.
