Germany, Regensburg: Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) was contracted by Minnesota Power to fully replace the outdated transformer monitoring system at its International Falls substation with MR’s combined TAPCON system, reports the company.

As part of the project, MR designed a software and installed a system comprising four TAPCON®260 devices in the substation consisting of two phase-shifting transformers, before testing the entire facility together with the customer, reports MR in the press release.

The project was completed in mid-December 2014 and the two months of operation have provided valuable insights into operating circumstances of the equipment responsible for ensuring power exchange between Minnesota and Ontario, Canada.
