Germany, Regensburg: Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) has improved its GRIDCON® iTAP® solution for voltage regulation distribution transformers with new extended functions, announced the company.

This product comprises an on-load tap-changer, voltage regulator, and voltage and current measurement and, when combined with a transformer, becomes a voltage regulation distribution transformer (VRDT), according to the press release.

One of the main extensions is the additional voltage regulation algorithms which enable optimum independent voltage regulation in a large number of different grid configurations.

The enhanced product has an improved communication ability, through both IEC 60870-5-104 and MODBUS TCP, and now not only comes in a 30 A variant but is also available for a rated through-current of 85 A, both of which are suitable for alternative insulation fluids.
