Uganda seeks $370M for distribution network revamp

Uganda, Kampala: The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company (UEDCL) is seeking $370 million to upgrade electricity transmission lines and outdated electrical equipment.

 


Uganda, Kampala: The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company (UEDCL) is seeking $370 million to upgrade electricity transmission lines and outdated electrical equipment.  

In the next five years, the government needs $314 million for the acquisition of transformers and replacement of the low voltage lines, as well as additional $59 million to upgrade the high voltage lines, reports New Vision.

According to UEDCL, many substations have worked for over 40 years, and they need to be upgraded to match the growing number of electricity consumers in the country.
