USA, Missouri: Ameren crews have replaced a Boonville transformer with a new 22 MW power transformer as part of a $2.6 million project.

The new transformer is replacing a 14 MW transformer that was installed in the 1930s and that powered Boonville, Pilot Grove and Jamestown, reports Abc 17 News.

Replacing the Boonville transformer marked completion of phase one of the project, which took 18 months to plan.

The new transformer will supply power to the New Franklin area after the project is completed in July.
