Transformer failure caused 20,000L of oil spills in Quebec

Canada, Quebec: After a failure of a transformer at Rio Tinto Alcan (RTA) mining plant in Saguenay, Quebec, over 20,000 litres of transformer insulating oil was spilled, reported regional authorities.

 


Canada, Quebec: After a failure of a transformer at Rio Tinto Alcan (RTA) mining plant in Saguenay, Quebec, over 20,000 litres of transformer insulating oil was spilled, reported regional authorities.

After the incident was reported, the crews at the scene managed to recover most of the product, but a small amount of oil remained in the environment, reports Le Courrier du Saguenay.

The transformer failure had no impact on the operations of the plant owned by a Montreal-based international mining group.
