The $36 million project includes the installation of specialized voltage-regulating equipment, including new power transformers, capacitor banks, circuit breakers, communications equipment and a control building that will be installed at the substation.

The work is expected to be completed by September and will benefit more than 150,000 JCP&L customers in Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Somerset, Sussex and Warren counties, the company said.

The project is part of JCP&L’s previously announced plans to invest $267 million in 2015 to improve and maintain a strong electrical system and help meet future load growth.
