USA, Illinois: U.S. producers AK Steel and Allegheny Technologies, Inc. are awaiting a decision by the European Commission on tariffs on imports of grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES).

According to the legal news service Law 360, and as previously reported by Transformers Magazine, the provisional duties will likely be set this week and come in at 22 per cent for the U.S. producers, which would likely make US exports uncompetitive into European markets, reports Metal Miner.

Meanwhile, the U.S. anti-dumping case has failed to provide the much-desired increase in GOES prices in the U.S., which fell 3.1% to $2,518 per metric ton after rising the previous month.
