LSIS wins $147M electrical infrastructure deal in Iraq

South Korea, Seoul: LS Industrial Systems (LSIS), a Korean electrical equipment producer, has won a $147 million contract as part of the Bismayah New City Project (BNCP) to build electricity infrastructure in Iraq. This is the largest-ever overseas deal worth US (161.2 billion won) for the company.

 


South Korea, Seoul: LS Industrial Systems (LSIS), a Korean electrical equipment producer, has won a $147 million contract as part of the Bismayah New City Project (BNCP) to build electricity infrastructure in Iraq.

As part of the contract, the company will construct the entire gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation solution which will charge the supply of electric power in the Bismayah region, including two 132 kV substations, six 132 kV transmission substations, and 24 33 kV distributing substations with power transformers and all requisite electrical equipment, reports Business Korea.

LSIS signed the contract with South Korean construction firm Hanwha Engineering & Construction, which heads the BNCP project – the largest new city development project proposed by the National Investment Committee (NIC) of Iraq, scheduled for completion in 2019.
