USA, Iowa: Alliant Energy crews are still cleaning up after a transformer exploded Thursday afternoon at a substation in North Liberty, Iowa, causing fire and shutting off power to 4,200 customers in the North Liberty area for several hours.

Alliant Energy spokesperson stated that five workers were inside the substation doing maintenance work when the malfunction happened, and that there was no real reason as to why the 45-ton transformer blew up, reports KWWL.

As crews across the state worked to replace the blown power transformer, the replacement of the equipment which would typically take a week for crews to perform was completed in 26 hours.
