ABB to extend solar park substation in Dubai

Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has won an order worth around $20 million from Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) to extend a substation at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park that will integrate more solar energy into the grid.

 


Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has won an order worth around $20 million from Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) to extend a substation at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park that will integrate more solar energy into the grid.

As part of this turnkey project, ABB will design, engineer, supply, install and commission the substation’s extension, states the company in the press release.

Key products to be supplied include power transformers, three bays of 400 kV and eleven bays of compact 132 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), and IEC 61850-based open architecture automation and controls.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
