USA, Massachusetts: A vehicle striking a utility pole on Route 123 in Norton, Massachusetts on Saturday left a number of businesses without power and caused a shutdown of a major local road.

The impact of the crash has also created an environmental issue as an estimated 265-300 litres of transformer oil spilled from a large, ground-mounted electrical transformer, and a small amount caught fire, reports The Sun Chronicle.

Crews from an environmental cleaning company assisted with cleaning both the contaminated ground and the excess oil that remained inside the transformer, which was removed by placing a large suction hose inside the transformer.

The old transformer was then removed from the site.
