United Kingdom, Pudsey: Winder Power, a UK manufacturer of power and distribution transformers, has launched a new range of Ecotran transformers which complies with the European Union Ecodesign regulation which has taken effect this month, targeting a reduction in transformer energy losses.

The new range of transformers has a potential to create substantial energy savings during its 25-year lifespan, according to the company press release.

Savings will also be gained from the reduction in CO2 emissions and from the enhanced tapping functionality which allows a reduced supply voltage at source, which can also reduce the energy use of the transformer by approximately 9%.

The EU Ecodesign regulation implements an initiative targeting a 20% improvement in the EU’s energy efficiency. The first tier of the regulation came into effect on 1 July 2015.
