Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has won an order worth around $30 million from Norwegian transmission system operator Statnett SF to supply power transformers that will help increase the capacity of the country’s central power grid, bolstering its energy security and ability to transmit more renewable energy.

The order for nine transformers includes seven 1,000 MVA 420/300 kV autotransformers and two 300 MVA 420/132 kV power transformers.

The order has been placed as part of a large upgrade project, as Statnett is upgrading the voltage of Norway’s main grid from 300 to 420 kV by converting existing 300 kV power lines and substations or by replacing old low-capacity lines with new, higher-capacity lines.
