USA, Michigan: 209-ton power transformer has safely arrived to ITC’s new Morocco substation being constructed on South County Line Highway near Morocco Road in Deerfield Township, Michigan, USA.

The transformer crossed Lenawee County without incident on Adrian Blissfield Rail Road Co. tracks and was hauled by truck from Blissfield to the substation on South County Line Highway, reports Lenconnect.

Cranes were used to shift the transformer onto a truck trailer outfitted with enough axles and wheels to travel without crushing pavement on U.S. 223 and county roads.

The new substation is to replace electricity now generated by a coal-fired electric plant in Monroe County. The coal plant is expected to be shut down next year.

The transformer will be used to feed electric power from a major ITC transmission line that passes nearby into Consumers Energy lines in Lenawee and Monroe counties.
