USA, Missouri: Ameren Transmission is having a 168-ton SPX Transformer moved from downtown Hermann, seat of Gasconade County, Missouri to the Bland Substation north of the Gasconade County R-2 School District’s Highway 19 North campus.

The 8-metre long transformer is arriving by railcar and will be transported on a 20-metre long vehicle with 10 axles and 80 wheels, reports Gaconade County Republican.

The load will soon be traveling into the Owensville area with expectations of travel delays predicted along Highway 19 from Hermann, over a two-to-three-day period.

Ameren Missouri line crews will travel with the unit to lift any power and utility lines which would impede the advance of the 6,5-metre tall and 3,6-metre wide transformer and transporter vehicle.

It is expected to take two 8-hour shifts to off-load and set the transformer on its pad.
