Austrian winding material producer acquires Brazilian PPE

Austria, Reinach/Oed: ASTA-Group, a supplier of copper wires for the high-energy market and a member of Montana Tech Components AG (MTC), has announced the acquisition of PPE, a Brazilian producer of copper and aluminium wires.

 


Austria, Reinach/Oed: ASTA-Group, a supplier of copper wires for the high-energy market and a member of Montana Tech Components AG (MTC), has announced the acquisition of PPE, a Brazilian producer of copper and aluminium wires.

With this acquisition ASTA aims to enhance its market position in the American growth-market, making “a major step towards global leadership in the field of winding material for transformers and generators,” as MTC CEO Michael Tojner stated in the press release.

Beside this acquisition, ASTA has invested more than €20 million in expanding its plant in Austria in order to increase production capacity by 25% and enter new customer and product segments.

The Austrian company, which is celebrating its 200 year-anniversary next week is also planning an expansion into Southeast Asia.
